How Does a Trixie Bet Work

Trixie is one of the preferred betting systems. It is a 3 selection wager made up of 4 bets – 3 doubles and a treble. You should guess at least 2 of the events correctly to get something out of it. Trixie differs from the standard system 2/3 in having an extra event and promising better returns.

Here is a good example of a Trixie bet:

  • Match 1: Barcelona – Bayern Munich
    Bet: Barcelona wins, coefficient – 2
  • Match 2: Manchester United – Juventus
    Bet: Tie, coefficient – 3.3
  • Match 3: Milan – Liverpool
    Bet: Milan wins, coefficient – 2.2

Your total bet is 100 euro, or 25 euro per each of the 4 combinations.

Possible outcome #1: None or only one of your predictions were right – you lose it all.

Possible outcome #2: You guessed 2 of the matches correctly and Barcelona and Milan have won, so you have a winning double combination. Part of your initial bet is restored and you have extra winnings calculated as follows:

Winnings = Total bet / 4 * ((Match 1 coef. * Match 3 coef.) – 1) – (Total bet / 4 * 3)
Winnings = 25 * ((2 * 2.2) – 1) – 75 = 10 euro

Possible outcome #3: You guessed all 3 matches correctly. In that case all of the 3 doubles and the treble are winning. Your total bet is restored and your winnings are calculated as follows:

Winnings = Total bet / 4 * ((Match 1 coef. * Match 2 coef. * Match 3 coef. * Match 4 coef.) – 1) + Total bet / 4 * ((Match 1 coef. * Match 2 coef.) – 1) + Total bet / 4 * ((Match 1 coef. * Match 3 coef.) – 1) + Total bet / 4 * ((Match 2 coef. * Match 3 coef.) – 1)

Winnings = 25 * 13.52 + 25 * 5.6 + 25 * 3.4 + 25 * 6.26 = 719.5 euro
